Dacre is the nearest village (approx 2 miles) to Thornthwaite and has a small village store (Tel. 01423 780943) which is useful if you need something in a hurry.

Summerbridge
Summer is small village situated approx 3 miles from Thornthwaite. There are several small shops and a large hardware store, Todds (Tel: 01423 780319), which has a post office and also sells Butane and Propane gas.
Pateley Bridge
There are various smaller shops that will cater for all your needs plus cafes, bakers and a fish & chip shop.

Harrogate
Harrogate is located approximately 12 miles from Thornthwaite and has several large supermarkets as well as many shops, cafes and other attractions.
The near hospital with an A&E department is in Harrogate.
