We use Online Scout Manager's Venue Booking system to manage bookings at Thornthwaite.

Bookings can now be made online for both activities and accommodation. Please read the how to guidelines carefully as this will help you make your booking.

Check out the FAQ section at the bottom of this page for a list of commonly asked questions and answers.

Booking Accommodation

Residential bookings can be made for our indoor centre (see floorpan) and camping. We have 4 camping areas available for booking. Each area contains one or more pitches. (see the site map for more information and pictures).

We have recently implemented a new booking system, which allows you to book accommodation online. Please bear with us during the early stages of use.

You can check availability using our availability calendar (opens in a new tab). When you are ready to book click the button below.

Booking Activities

See our Activities page for more details on the activities available at Thornthwaite. Before booking please pay attention to which section/age group can undertake each activity.

Activities requiring a permit can be booked as "self-led" or instructor led. When booking a self-led activity you will be asked to provide details of the permit holder and the type of permit held. If these are not provided at the time of booking then this will delay the booking being accepted and could lead to it being cancelled. The minimum booking for a self-led activity is 1 hour

Instructor-led activities have a minimum duration of 2 hours and within each hour a maximum of 8 people can participate (For example, a 2 hour session can accommodate 16 people, a 3 session 24 people and so on). Exceeding the maximum number of participants could lead to delays in accepting your booking.

Please ensure that you answer any questions related to the activity being booked to ensure that we can help you to make the most of your time at Thornthwaite.

Should you need to cancel or amend a booking made online please contact campsite@harrogatescouts.org.uk (Including your booking reference will help us deal with your request as efficiently as possible)

PLEASE NOTE: Instructed activities should be booked 3 weeks in advance to allow time for instructors to be allocated.

  • Account Name: Harrogate and Nidderdale District Scout Council
  • Account Number - 00033464
  • Sort Code - 40-52-40

When paying by BACS, please use OSM + your booking reference as the BACS payment reference (e.g. OSM12345 where 12345 is your booking reference, which can be found in the top right of your booking documents)

Unfortunately, as laid out in our terms and conditions, deposits are non-refundable.

To simplify the booking and payment process we prefer that all bookings be fully paid before arriving at the site.

There is a small souvenir and badge shop on site. Please make arrangements with the warden regarding opening times.
