Our District Insignia
Our badge was designed in 1976.
In February 1977 it was accepted as the official Harrogate and Nidderdale District Badge
A Story to tell
Our badge shows the White Rose of Yorkshire and a view of Nidderdale showing the river Nidd flowing down through the dale. This aspect of the badge also shows us to be a country and rural district as opposed to a city
The three evergreen pine trees depict the three sections of scouting that existed when the badge was designed (Cub Scouts, Scouts and Venture Scouts). They also represent the Pine Woods, which symbolize a part of Harrogate
No wording appears on the badge for this reason:
Inquisitive Cubs, Scouts etc will ask what our badge represents and from the conversation it could lead to a deep friendship, which after all is a major thing in the Family of Scouts
